Laotian Churches Said Ordered Closed

According to the Jubilee Campaign, a Christian human rights watchdog organization, the central government of Laos reportedly has sent secret orders to local authorities to close down all the churches in the country, beginning in the countryside. Persecution of Christians in Communist Laos has gone on now for years. In 1999 the government named Christianity the "number one enemy of the state." The World Evangelical Fellowship has listed 59 chuches as having been closed in the last 18 months.
