Pray & Praise: In February of 2001, the Vietnamese government made an agreement with believers, supposedly to create a warmer attitude towards believers. Instead, persecution has increased. Reports to Christian Aid Mission list some strategies used by the Vietnamese officials against Christians, such as making them return to ancestral worship. Some Christians have responded by fleeing to friendlier areas in central Vietnam, or to the jungles and caves.
But some reports are encouraging and give insight into the joys and hardships of work on a difficult mission field. Missionaries write of planting a church and watching it grow; some "walk eight miles by foot to the church to lead the believers in studying the Bible" or "I often work in the fields with unbelievers to share the gospel with them" or "The light of Christianity came upon them and changed their lives."
