Hope & Help for the Widow, the Reality of Being Alone
Of the almost 14 million widowed persons in the United States, according to recent government statistics, 85 percent are women. Coping with the loss of your spouse is a difficult process. Jan Sheble’s husband contracted a rare virus and died within twenty-four hours. Over the years as she dealt with the adjustments thrust upon her so unexpectedly, she found few Christian resources for the widow. Having experienced widowhood, she saw a need and felt the Lord leading her to write a book sharing the biblical, practical, and helpful insights she had learned. Jan shares her story and the stories of others as she covers the many different aspects of widowhood. Topics include: Immediate Plans, The First Year, Regrets, Single Parenting, Loneliness, Memories, Finances, Sex, Dating, and Remarriage. As I read the book I couldn’t put it down. Every pastor should read this book and obtain copies to give to those in their churches who must deal with the loss of their spouse. Whether you’re young or older when you experience this loss, the insights and practical tips will be invaluable.
