Where is Christ?
In all the Christmas hype, there is no mention of the meaning of "Christmas" nor the One for which the day exist. Yes, I know you are a Christian and you know the true meaning of Christmas. But, have you found yourself already in a mad rush to get things done with hardly a thought about Christ? I. Preoccupied with the celebration of the Passover Jesus was not even missed. (Christmas) A. In our preoccupation, we miss Him (vv. 43-44a). 1. Large crowds, rushing 2. Anxiety–busy life 3. Pressures of life in general B. The family of Jesus traveled a day’s journey before they missed Him. C. We "suppose" Him to be there, we take for granted He is; but we have edged Him out of our lives. (44a) D. Samson: (Judges 16:20) "...I will go out as at other times and shake myself free. But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him." E. Is your life so busy that you have no time for fellowship? F. Love is spelled T-I-M-E. II. In our Pilgrimage We Search for Him (vv. 44b-45). A. One day without Jesus can lead to a long agonizing search. 1. They were wise in that they did not proceed one step without Jesus. 2. They began back at the place where they were last conscious of His presence (v. 45). B. Are you right now aware that the presence and delight of His presence is missing? (The joy of your salvation) C. Some become more active in their labor: 1. Bible reading and study 2. Church work 3. Meetings, seminars and revivals III. In Prayer We Find Him (v. 46). A. Much preoccupation and little prayer make for a hard task. B. We will be surprised at what we find when we search for Him in prayer. 1. Jeremiah 29:12-30; 33:3 2. Isaiah 55:6 IV. In His Presence We Rejoice in Him (v. 51). A. All who have ever sought Christ have found Him doing the Father’s business (intercession for us). B. "Subjection to them" 1. He adapted Himself to all their needs and requirements. 2. He placed Himself at their disposal. C. Jesus offers Himself to all who seek Him. Conclusion: Do you come to church, read your Bible and yet still there is no intimacy with Jesus? Everyday you wonder what is missing. Friend, where is Christ? Have you edged Him out of your life? |
