Understanding the Lord’s Supper
1 Cor. 11:23-26
By Kent Crockett

Intro: Show the congregation a picture of your wife and say, “This is my wife. Actually, this picture really isn’t my wife, because she’s sitting right there,” pointing to her. When Jesus held up the bread at the Last Supper and said, “This is my body,” He meant it was a picture of what He would do on the cross, not that it was His literal body.

The Lord’s Supper is 3 things:

1)        The Lord’s Supper Is a Remembrance (11:24):

a)          Do this in remembrance of Me.”

b)         We remember what He did on the cross.

2)        The Lord’s Supper Is a Proclamation (11:26):

a)          You proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”

b)         We proclaim the 1st coming until the 2nd coming.

3)        The Lord’s Supper Is a Self-Examination (11:28)

a)          Let a man examine himself and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

b)         We examine our hearts to see if we need repent.
