Money Glorified In the Window in Thrums, Mr. Barrie describes how Jamie sent home to Jess, his mother, his weekly savings, and how, home from London on a holiday, he left in her lap a five-pound note (whistling the while to hide his feelings), and he adds: "I do not know the history of that five pound note, but well aware am I that it grew slowly out of passions many things for this great hour. His sacrifices watered his young heart and kept it fresh and tender. Let us no longer cheat our consciences by talking of filthy lucre. Money may always be a beautiful thing. It is we who make it grimy." This, also, is the testimony of Jesus. Two mites dropped into the treasury-box, with a heart's love added to it, are of fabulous value in His sight. The altar sanctifies this as well as all other gifts. Money can be made Divine, in Christlike benevolence and generosity.
