I just read the story “My Last Date With Another Woman.” The author unknown from May issue, volume 28.
It sounds almost like a story from the book Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul. It is on pages 20-23 written by David Farrell.
It is the same story almost until the part about the mother dying of a massive heart attack a few days later. Maybe it could be by the same person. It is in the contents on Love. Check it out.
I also enjoyed the article about what worship really is. We were planned for God’s pleasure.
Editor’s response: Thanks to this reader, we now know at least part of the history of the touching story of “My Last Date With Another Woman.” It did, indeed, begin with a story by David Farrell (titled “The Other Woman”) in Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul, copyrighted in 1996 by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Jennifer Read Hawthorne, and Marci Shimoff. But apparently, at some later date, an unknown hand substituted a different ending to David Farrell’s story...and this version was loosed on the nameless email circuit, where we found it—with no means at our disposal of back-tracking it.
Our thanks go to Joannn Schrenk, and our apologies go to the author and the publishers of Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul. It was and is a cracker-jack story!
My husband, Clay, and I started ministry in 1971 when he was a youth pastor. Pulpit Helps provided this young couple with a wealth of resources from which to draw. I used to dutifully clip and file various tidbits on a regular basis. Although I no longer do the clipping and saving, Clay still receives and benefits from the publication. I am so grateful for your ongoing ministry.
