Praise and Prayer

Praise: Islamic Killer Gives His Life to Christ-After being taught to kill Christians, Jews, and Americans at age 13 to further Islamic causes, Zachariah Anani was credited with 223 kills, mostly against rival militias. After an Operation Mobilization missionary's street-corner preaching caught his attention, Anani gave his life and soul to Christ. He boldly shared his conversion with his family and was sentenced to death for "apostasy." His own father hired three Kurdish assassins to kill him. "There have been 18 attempts on my life," he notes. "My father said recently the last thing he wants to do to make him closer to God is to kill me." Anani is now the director of evangelism for Millions to Millions Ministries International and has taken his incredible testimony before Muslims throughout the U.S. and Canada. Mansa Musa, founder of Millions to Millions says Anani's testimony is "extremely powerful. I call him a modern-day Paul."

Pray: Young Pakistani Bride Raped, Beaten for Refusing to Follow Islam-A Christian girl in Pakistan has gone into hiding to escape her Muslim in-laws who beat and raped her for fleeing her forced marriage and refusing Islam. Asya Khadim, 15, had been married for 13 months when her mother filed divorce papers for her in January. "They tried to force me to read the Koran," she said. "My husband beat me every day for two months because I refused." Khadim fled to a relative's home for protection. When her husband found her, he and 10 family members took her at knifepoint and imprisoned her in a small house with guards. Khadim says her husband "locked me in my room and then beat and raped me. He told me to say that I was a Muslim, otherwise he would rape me again." Khadim's story highlights the ongoing debate regarding Pakistan's controversial Hudood Ordinances that are based on Muslim laws, and some say encourage domestic violence against women.

Pray: Clinics Use Tissue From Babies Killed in Abortions for Cosmetic Injections-Women from around the world are traveling to clinics in various locations that are now offering facelifts and cosmetic surgery using tissue from babies who have been killed by abortions. Pro-life advocates are strongly condemning the practice and saying the taking of human life is never warranted-especially for such a self-serving purpose. To produce the treatments, clinics are using tissue from babies killed in abortions from 6 to 12 weeks into pregnancy and stem cells obtained from destroying human embryos to inject into a client's face. The fetal cells then begin a supposed rejuvenation process that makes the skin look younger. To obtain the cells, women in underdeveloped nations are paid up to $200 dollars to carry a baby up to the optimum eight to 12 week period when the fetuses are "harvested" for their stem cells which are then sold to exclusive cosmetic clinics.

Praise: Hopegivers International Receives Double Victories in India-The High Court in Jaipur, Rajasthan State, has revoked a series of injunctions that had crippled humanitarian and educational outreaches in Kota since Feb. 20. The court granted relief from bureaucratic restrictions that had frozen bank accounts and prevented Christians from operating Hope Home orphanages, schools, a hospital, and other institutions in Rajasthan, said Michael Glenn, chief operating officer of Hopegivers. Samuel Thomas, president of Emmanuel International, the indigenous mission partner of Hopegivers International, was also granted bail on charges that have kept him from public activity since May 20. The rulings are seen as a sign that the case is moving in favor of Thomas and the ministries of Emmanuel International and Hopegivers.
